What is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy is a holistic system of primary health care, emphasising treatment, prevention and promotion of optimum health, which encourages the body's self-healing process. A holistic approach to health and well-being considers the physical, mental and the emotional aspects of health and disease, and addresses the causes and contributing factors. Naturopaths draw on traditional and scientifically researched treatment methods such as nutrition, homoeopathy, flower essences, massage and herbal medicine. Naturopathic treatments are natural, safe and effective.

What will you learn?

The curriculum provides a sound foundation of naturopathic philosophy and principles, as well as evidence-based naturopathic health assessment and therapeutics. A range of therapies are studied, including nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy, flower essences, and colloidal mineral therapy. Students also study essential health sciences such as anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, symptomatology, pathology and pharmacology. Clinical practice

Students undertake supervised clinical studies in the college clinic in years two and three of their course. This provides a vital opportunity to learn how to treat and manage actual clients and cases prior to graduation and commencement of practice.

First aid

Students must obtain a current Senior First Aid Certificate prior to graduation.

Time to complete

A full-time student can complete the advanced diploma in three years. Part-time students will take longer to complete the award. This is dependant on the student's desired study load.

Pathways to Higher Education

This government accredited National Health Training Package qualification provides pathways to Higher Education qualifications (e.g. Bachelor, Masters Degrees) offered by a number of Australian Universities.
