What is Remedial Massage?

Remedial Massage combines different massage techniques to address soft tissue injuries, areas of pain or physical discomfort. It plays a crucial role in the prevention and recovery of injuries in people who participate in sport and other recreational activities. It teaches you the techniques that allow you to build treatment plans.

What will you learn?

The Diploma of Remedial Massage builds on the Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice. At this level you will gain more in-depth knowledge and understanding to treat conditions of the musculoskeletal system as you build your skills and techniques. For the Diploma of Remedial Massage you are required to choose one of the following majors:

The Diploma of Musculoskeletal Therapy develops your ability to assess your client's postural imbalances and to create effective treatment plans. It includes Trigger Point Therapy, which is a technique that can bring quick relief to muscular pain.

The Diploma of Myofascial Therapy will teach you to work with fascia (a web of connective tissue throughout the whole body) and the lymphatic system (A vessel system that transports and filters fluids throughout the body). Myofascial Therapy is a gentle form of stretching of the connective tissue to eliminate pain, restore motion, realign posture and increase flexibility. Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a gentle technique which stimulates different body systems and helps to reduce pain and swelling.
