First Aid

The Senior First Aid Certificate is a requirement of all certificates and diplomas at SAHEC. You will learn first aid techniques and resuscitation.

 

Naturopathic Clinical Studies 2

This module of Naturopathic Clinical Studies draws students’ attention to the therapeutic relationship between client and practitioner and its importance to both effective treatment and successful business. Students are required to observe client consultations in the College Clinic, analysing the dynamics between client and practitioner, documenting their observations and critically evaluating the process. NCLS2 students will also participate in client interviews, case-taking, health assessment and development of therapeutic strategies for managing clients.

 

Naturopathic Clinical Studies 3

Naturopathic Clinical Studies 3 advances students’ skills in applying their knowledge from all aspects of their study to clinical case studies. Working within a framework of naturopathic philosophy and principles, students are encouraged to think holistically in their health assessment, treatment planning and management of clients.

 

Nutritional Medicine 5

This module follows on from Nutritional Medicine 4 by continuing to investigate health conditions associated with the different body systems, how they are influenced by nutrition, and how optimum nutrition may influence them.

 

Nutritional Medicine 6

Nutritional Medicine 6 completes the study of nutritional therapeutics by addressing the remaining body systems and health conditions associated with them. Discussion of nutrition’s role in preventing and managing these conditions is emphasised. Students continue to develop their skills in developing therapeutic strategies for the nutritional management of individual cases.

 

Pharmacology

Through this module students gain knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs and their effects on the body. Potential drug-herb and drug-nutrient interactions are presented and critically discussed.

 

Practice Management for Naturopathy

In Practice Management for Naturopaths students develop knowledge and skills required to establish and conduct a natural medicine clinical practice. Appropriate business strategies, including planning, marketing, financial, ethical, legal and regulatory issues are presented and discussed. Students research and develop a personal business plan relevant to the establishment of a clinical practice as a business.
